Grace is totally ready for 3-day Pre-K next year. She made a great friend this year, Emma, and they will be in the same class next year, too!

Last day of school
The kids had their last days of school this week and it was truly bittersweet. I just registered Caiden for Kindergarten at our local elementary school and I still can't believe that in a couple months we'll be walking him to school in the mornings! We had a graduation party in Caiden's class today and all the moms were bawling their eyes out. Here's to class of 2031!

Memorial Day Weekend!
We spent the weekend in Palm Desert, CA at the Westin Mission Hills. May gray is in full swing in San Diego so we took a two and a half hour road trip to the desert. It topped 100 degrees on Sunday and we loved every minute of it! It was also Marc's birthday last Thursday so it was another great reason to get away! We spent all day at the pool then hit up the arcade before dinner. The kids were in heaven the entire weekend.
Caiden went down the water slide probably fifty times in the three days we were there. He went down every which way you can imagine and was head first in this shot!
One of the boys that was on Caiden's football team last fall was staying at our hotel as well. The kids got to hang together and we got to know their family better. Such a great time! Here are Caiden and Ryan hiding under the slide.
Grace would only go on the water slide if we went with her. The minute her feet would touch the water she would yell, "I want to go again!"

YMCA Adventure Guides camp-out
Caiden and Marc did their first outing with the Adventure Guides a few weeks ago. It's a father and son camp-out for boys between 5-10 years old. The Adventure Guides program camps out at different camp sites around San Diego once a month and you join a specific Nation and Tribe and go around with them. They had a great time! They did archery, sling shots, bead trading, bb gun target shooting, rock walls, night hikes, day hikes and good ol fashion father/son time.
Caiden made it all the way up the rock wall which apparently was no small feat for a 5-year old.

Marc's parents in town, Karate & T-ball
Marc's parents came in town for 2 weeks and the kids had lots of activities to share with them. Caiden has his first Karate belt test. He passed!
He was so happy when he got his new belt. He even slept with it the first night!
Next up is the orange belt. He loves having something to look forward to.
Now that he moved up a level he is able to start sparring. He told me he loves his sparring gear more than anything.
We went up to Orange County a couple of times to visit family. Leah and Grace are 5 months apart and so cute together.
Caiden also started T-ball with Del Mar National Little League. It was a cold and rainy first game but Caiden is totally into it and enjoying himself!

Mashhoun/ Loges Cabo Trip
We spent the week of Presidents Day (or "ski week" as the Californians call it) in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! We had a big group with my parents joining us and Bill, Mickey, Harper, Rowan and Mickey's mom, Diane coming as well. It was a great vacation! The kids LOVED every minute of being in the pool almost every minute of the day and the adults enjoyed themselves with margaritas and Coronas!
We stayed at Villa La Estancia. Not a bad way to wake up every day!
The Glass Bottom Boat Tour took us to the Arch and some other famous landmarks at the tip of the Baja!
The "Mango Man".
Caiden wanted a mango on a stick everyday! They were so delicious.
Lunch at famous, "The Office"

Torrey Pines Golf Course
We received some last minute tickets to the PGA Golf tournament at the Torrey Pines Golf Course with access to a suite on the 18th Hole a few weeks ago. We knew it was a risk taking the kids but when you have no babysitter they tag along and you don't miss an opportunity like this.
It actually worked out really well and we didn't leave the suite for the entire five hours we were there. It helped that our suite was about 20 feet away from the 18th hole, had an open bar and fully stocked food! It was such a good time and Caiden especially enjoyed watching each golfer come down to the hole. He thought it was especially interesting when their ball would roll into the pond and wondered how they would ever get it out.
This was when Tiger Woods was coming to the 7th hole that was located behind our suite. Thousands of people swarming to see him and Caiden was able to squeeze in and watch (Tiger is to the right of the "7" sign in the red shirt).

Caiden Karate
Caiden started karate at the beginning of the year. He had been asking to go for the past few months and was super excited to start. He's been going almost every day since January 3rd and received his first yellow stripe on Monday, after only nine classes! The things his instructor said about him in front of the entire class brought me to tears. He talked about how he has been working hard each class and not giving up. And how if he keeps working hard he can participate in the belt test in March to receive a black stripe on his white belt. Needless to say he is super excited to keep working and is aiming for that black stripe. He really loves the idea of getting to the next "level". It's so sweet to see your kid work hard at something and succeed...such a proud parent moment!
