What we've been up to

It's been a busy few weeks around here. Grace is eating rice cereal, almost crawling (seriously soooo close -still just the army crawl), today she pulled herself up on the little play table and I about busted my a** trying to get to her before she fell, and she has her second tooth! Caiden is being his awesome self. The cutest is that every morning when he comes downstairs he immediately gives me and Grace a hug and morning kisses...without even asking. He's such a sweet boy. Here's what we've been doing in photos!

He had his first eye appointment (everything was fine!). He did so good and even got to eat a quarter of this sucker for being so good and wearing these eye glasses the entire way home. He had his eyes dilated and did not like the drops (I think they sting a little, right??). But it didn't even phase him once they were in.

We gave potty training a try...it didn't work. We didn't really follow the 3-day rule like you should so he's still in diapers and I was sick of picking poop off our lawn. Seriously -he pooped on our fake grass.

Grace is still sleeping in our bed every once in awhile. This particular morning Marc got this fabulous picture of her nuzzled into my armpit. I woke up with the worse crick in my neck.

He was so happy this day. We went with our friends that have a membership to La Costa Resort and Spa and he had a blast. I even let him eat waffle fries (which he never gets). He couldn't believe I was letting him eat them.

Grace: 8-months

Our Gracie girl is 8 months! She does the army crawl so fast across the floor -sometimes she'll get up on all fours while she's going but falls to her belly after the first move. I kind of think since she has the army crawl down so well that she may put off the real thing for awhile or skip it all together.

We introduced rice cereal mixed with some breast milk and she loves it. Here's to more food on the horizon! She still just has her one tooth so as more teeth start coming in we'll introduce some more foods.

She's taking two, sometimes three naps a day and usually sleeps about 10-11 hours at night. Her morning nap in Caiden's crib is getting really good...sometimes two hours. I feel bad because it's the only room in the house that is complete black-out so I feel like it makes her sleep better. She's still sleeping in our room at night-she starts in her pack and play and still wakes up once during the night and we bring her in our bed. Any day Miss Grace...you can start sleeping through the night!!!

She's still a big time sweetie. She loves being held and loves kisses all over her chin, cheeks and lips. And I'm not sure if I mentioned it in her 7-month post -but she's clapping! She really is such a great baby and just so happy most of the time.

Easter

My parents were here the week leading up to Easter so they were able to help color easter eggs. I'm not sure who had more fun -Caiden or my Dad. We started by trying to get Caiden to use the little egg holder used to dip the eggs but that was quickly replaced by his fingers. He loved dropping the eggs in all the different colors. We had a few good spills and splashes but that comes with the territory of letting a two year old color eggs! He was really into it and wanted me to pull them out of the fridge so he could look at them quite a few times.

Since my parents were leaving on Saturday afternoon we did a hunt on Saturday morning. We hid the colored easter eggs and filled plastic eggs with money and jelly beans all over the backyard. After breakfast we told him the Easter bunny visited and he took one look out the window and spotted a couple eggs and got so excited to go out. He could immediately tell when he shook it if it was jelly beans or money inside. When he would find one with jelly beans he would immediately open it and eat one and then go around and give everyone else one as well. He was on such a sugar high for a few hours. Of course he was equally excited to fill his piggy bank with all the money he was collecting. He would say, "We need to put the monies back in my basket!" It was so fun watching the excitement on his face when he would find one. He would always go to my Dad to tell him he found another one and my Dad would point him in the direction of more. And then my Dad would take the one he just found and hide it again...this went on for a good 30 minutes.

Marc's mom came in town on Easter Sunday and she brought more plastic eggs with 2 dollar bills inside. After his nap we told him the easter bunny visited him again and he had so much fun dragging Fery around as he found his eggs. Fery did the same thing as my Dad -as soon as he was on to the next egg she would hide the one he just found. I love grandparents!
