The last few days he's been really trying to pull himself up, before that he never really tried. Well today he became a champ at it and it's all he wants to do {oy vey}.

Moving
We moved in Saturday but unfortunately the work we were having done on the first floor isn't complete which means we need to keep Caiden confined to a small area when we're downstairs {pain in the butt}.
10 months
I can't believe we're in the double digits...and we are already planning his one year birthday party. We just moved this weekend so it's been a mad house around here. This post is going to be short and sweet.
- High five! That's right, Marc taught him how to high five. It's so crazy, you think they will never get it and then all of a sudden day two of showing them how to do it and they got it!
- You are learning how to throw a ball and you just think it's the funniest thing ever. When I throw it to your lap you will pick up (usually put it in your mouth for a few seconds) and then throw your arm around until you open your hand and it comes flying out.
- You are eating table food and you don't seem to mind it. Frankly, I think you love eating with your hands and you'd eat anything I'd let you get your hands on.
- I can't believe how quick you are. When you are on a mission to get somewhere you are probably clocking about one mile per hour on the speedometer. It almost happened overnight, about 2 weeks ago I could leave you somewhere and walk away knowing that you'd still be in about a 4 foot radius of where I left you. But now you zip around like it's your job.
- You are mimicking all the noises we make. If I yawn and let out a sigh afterwards, about 3 seconds later I'll here you let out a sigh as well. I do this all the time now just to hear you do it.
- You have eight teeth, four on top and four on bottom.

...and it won't be the last
There's a first for everything. Today was blood. Caiden was pulling himself up on our coffee table and he slipped and hit his bottom lip on the leg of the table. Looks like the tooth went through the bottom lip. It was bleeding pretty good for a few minutes but stopped. I was afraid it was going to get in the way of eating or nursing but no problems so far, he really doesn't seem to be bothered by it. I can only imagine how many more of these I'm going to have to deal with.
I couldn't get a picture of the inside, trust me I tried. But it's pretty black and blue. Also a picture from dinner tonight. Chicken and peas.

Mother's Day
So I just want to say that I feel old celebrating Mother's Day. I know that's probably not what everyone wanted or expected to hear, but that's how I feel. I tried not to bring too much attention to it today, except that I wanted to go out for breakfast, that's the only time I pulled it out. But when we were at Home Depot buying paint for the new house I think Marc was getting the stink eye from others. The lady behind the counter even asked if he was making me paint today. Haha, poor Marc. We weren't painting today, fyi, just getting a few gallons for the painter tomorrow and also some more samples to test upstairs. Then we went over to the new house to do a bunch of stuff. Oh my, we have SO MUCH that needs to happen in the next 2 weeks and we are depending on so many people it's kind of scary.
Marc did get me something though...jewelry! This was the first piece of jewelry he's purchased without getting my input. Even before we got engaged he took me shopping so I could give him ideas of what I wanted. He insisted on getting me something with Caiden's birthstone (a ruby; going to aim for an April baby next time because ruby's just aren't my color ;).
I was REALLY happy with what he picked out, very simple and delicate. He said he knew I would like it and he was right. I'm so proud of him. I wore it today, but unfortunately all Caiden wants to do when he's nursing is pull it off my neck. Going to have to keep it in my jewelry box for a few more months.
And also, a Happy Mother's Day shout out to my mom. I can't believe you put up with all my shenanigans growing up and you still loved me no matter what...well, actually I do. I used to wonder how you put up with me, but now I know. Like I've said before...how will I ever punish Caiden, turn him away or ever do anything to not put a smile on his face. It's a special bond, that between a mother and child, and I'm very fortunate to be able to look at this day in a whole new light. Love you, Mom.

It's officially official...he's crawling
There are really no words, just check it out for yourself. He started yesterday really kind of putting everything together and today he was off. The wood floors downstairs have been throwing him off these past few weeks because he just slides everywhere. Today I broke down and let him play around on the carpet upstairs. He was off in no time...oh boy.

A week in the life...
I knew the other top front tooth was on the verge of coming through any moment...but seriously, FOUR at the same time!?!? I'm not sure it's humane, but poor Mr. Max is handling it very well. He has 1 on the bottom popping through and then 3 on the top coming in. He's starting to drool again like crazy and of course putting everything in his mouth, but that's nothing new.
This past week I also took him in the pool for the first time. He was very hesitant at first and clung to me like never before. But we sat on the first step in the pool for awhile then started venturing into the deeper end. He was all good by the end, not really playing or getting adventurous at all but just pretty chill. We need to do this more often once it warms up for good this summer. I don't think I'll start swim lessons with him until he's at least two or three. Everyone has their opinions but a lot of research I've done and heard from my friends is that before that it's pretty useless. You taking them in like I did this past week is good enough to get them used to the water.
And the cutest thing happened this week. Caiden had his first kiss. Him and his little girlfriend, Mairin, who is a week older than him grabbed each other, opened their mouths and started sucking face. We were sitting on a bench next to Mairin and her mom, Tiffany, with the babies in the middle of us and they were grabbing and talking at each other when all of a sudden they both grabbed each others heads, opened their mouths and went in. There were six of us sitting at the table and we all freaked out and started laughing and pointing. Marc was videoing them but missed it by a few seconds, darn it.
Sara came down to San Diego this weekend, too! She came bearing gifts, these two are my favorite ;) Both German beers...I see a vacation to OctoberFest on my bucket list.
She also watched Caiden for us on Saturday for 5 hours while Marc and I were able to get some serious shopping done for our house. We went to a slab yard and purchased our granite piece for the built-in bar. We were there for 2 hours searching through pieces of granite that would match what we already have in the kitchen and I found the last piece of something they had, called giallo napoleon. Thank god we didn't have Caiden there with us, it would have been a nightmare. It was so hot, dirty and lots of waiting,we he would have been miserable. We went to a flooring place that had good reviews on yelp for the wood floors and came across a steal of a deal. The owners are Persian so Marc did his magic and got us a killer deal on the wood floors! Then we went to shop for a fan, which is so much harder than it sounds. Unfortunately for Sara she had to work pretty hard this time at babysitting. We fed Caiden eggs that morning for breakfast and I think it was just a bit too much. When he woke up from his nap Sara went up to get him and he was covered in egg barf. Sara, being the awesome aunt she is, took the bull by the horns, ran him a bath, got in with him and cleaned him from head to toe. She sent me this picture after it happened.
