28 Weeks

28 weeks, 1 day

How far along? 28 Weeks
Total weight gain: 19 pounds
Maternity clothes? My own jeans with some maternity tops mixed in
Stretch marks? No changes
Sleep:  Just okay this week. With travelling back to Nebraska it was hard to get a good nights sleep plus there was a lot on my mind, but since being home I’ve slept like a rock.
Best moment of the week: Getting to see all of my family back home; cousins, aunts, uncles. Everyone lives all over the country so everyone being together to celebrate my Grandpa’s life was great. My cousin, Jody, who is a certified yoga instructor also gave us a family yoga session in my parents basement. SCORE!
Miss anything: I feel like I’m finally starting to adjust to no wine on the weekends…it only took 6 months.
Movement: I’m officially feeling like an alien has taken over my belly. Sometimes his movements are so strong that they make my whole body jerk a little.
Food cravings: The idea of having to give up sweets makes me want them so much more…see below for round 2 of the gestational diabetes test.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, eating like a champ ;)
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: After looking forward to the 1-hour glucose tolerance test last week…I FAILED. L The max my Dr. will accept is a 139mg and mine was 164mg, ugh, I’m so disappointed. Seriously, I work out, I’m normal weight, I eat normal foods…okay, so I may have dessert every night, but come on….gestational diabetes?? I had to go back this week for the 3-hour test where they draw blood 4 times within 3 hours. I should find out in the next few days the results. It’s going to be so hard to cut out sweets and monitor my diet if I fail since I’ve never really had to worry about that stuff. Could stand for an interesting 12 additional weeks of pregnancy.
Belly Button in or out? Still in, it has a little more leeway, but not too much.
Wedding rings on or off? On, although not in this picture because we just got home from yoga.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Look forward to:  We get to start converting the spare bedroom into a nursery next week. My sister has been living with us but she’s moving this weekend and we are going to buy paint and order furniture next week!  Can’t wait to get the ball rolling!

27 Weeks

27 weeks, 2 days

How far along? 27 Weeks
Total weight gain: 18 pounds
Maternity clothes? I’m wearing all my jeans with the bella band, no maternity jeans yet. 90% of the tops I’m wearing though are maternity or bigger sizes than I would normally wear.
Stretch marks? Same as last week
Sleep: Sleeping way better this week. Still getting up 2 or 3 times to use the bathroom but able to fall back asleep.
Best moment of the week: Marc’s reaction to feeling babyboy move in my belly.
Miss anything: My spring wardrobe is starting to become quite limited, I’m already getting bored with the few maternity tops that I’m wearing. Only 13 more weeks to go!
Movement: Marc has finally felt him moving around! We were watching a movie around 11 on Saturday night and he was really kicking so Marc was able to feel him a lot! He loved it!
Food cravings: This week I’ve been making s’mores on our gas range. Clever, huh?!?
Anything making you queasy or sick: My sister got food poisoning from one of my fav restaurants in PB, the Fish Shop. I’m so bummed because it was a weekly thing for us and I’m just not sure I can go back, especially while I’m pregnant.
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: I can definitely feel pressure on my lower ribs. It doesn’t really hurt, just a bit of pressure I notice. I can only imagine this is going to get worse but as long as I sit up really straight it goes away.
Belly Button in or out? It’s still in there, getting flatter each week.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and Sad. My grandfather passed away this week and my pregnancy hormones must be on overdrive. One minute I’m laughing and literally the next I’ll be crying. Rest in Peace Grandpa, we love you and we’ll see you one day. In the meantime, this baby boy is going to make you one proud Great-Grandpa.
Look forward to:  I’m officially in the Third Trimester, holy crap! I’ve started wondering more and more what he’s going to look like, I can’t wait to see him…although I can because now that I’ve started the last trimester I’m thinking more about labor and what the heck is going to happen and it’s kind of scary. Deep breath in….deep breath out.

And, in memory of my Grandpa Schroeder, (so baby boy can have this picture in his book when I print the blog out) a picture of me and your great-grandfather about 5 months ago when he came out to San Diego for the Packers vs. Chargers football game. I found out 3 days later that I was pregnant with you (I was 3 and a half weeks pregnant in this picture).

26 Weeks

26 weeks, 4 days

How far along? 26 Weeks
Total weight gain: 18 pounds, I definitely feel like I had a growth spurt this week.
Maternity clothes? Still wearing my old jeans…I think I need to learn the ol’ hair tie trick to hold them together though.
Stretch marks? Nothing new!
Sleep: Sleeping better this week.
Best moment of the week: Wow, under 100 days left on the ticker until babyboy is here! Can someone please tell me where the time has gone?!?
Miss anything: My six pack abs (errr, okay, maybe four pack). Oh, and a cold six pack of Blue Moon!
Movement: Seriously, I’m getting anxious for Marc to feel it from the outside but no such luck yet. He’s still active though and there are about three times a day (all around the same time each day) when I really notice him moving around.
Food cravings: Did I mention I ate about half the carrot cake that my friend Traci made for Easter...oops, really need to watch that.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nothing really
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: I thought it would be good to add in a “symptoms” line item – this way I can document that I started having heartburn, rib pain, all that good stuff right around this time.
Belly Button in or out? It’s weird looking; I’m not used to looking down and seeing a slit for my belly button…PLEASE DON’T POP OUT!
Wedding rings on or off? On; please no sausage fingers anytime soon.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy {most of the time}
Look forward to: Is it weird that I’m looking forward to taking the 1-hour glucose test next week? I’ve just read so much about it and everyone says the drink tastes like Orange Fanta, and I love me some Fanta! I think I’m looking forward to it because it’s another thing to check off the list and it feels like I’m making progress. Now let’s just hope I pass because if not I could get moody real quick with having to alter my diet, which probably means cutting out sweets.

25 Weeks

25 weeks, 3 days

How far along? 25 Weeks
Total weight gain: 16 pounds
Maternity clothes? Wearing maternity t’s about half the time but still able to get away with some of my longer non-maternity tops. And my pre-pregnancy jeans are still good. Some with the belly band, some without.
Stretch marks? Still have that one I mentioned last week but it looks the same and no new ones, yet.
Sleep: Eh, debatable. I haven’t been sleeping very well this past week. Up every few hours to use the bathroom and trying to get comfortable. I hope this doesn’t continue.
Best moment of the week: I had an appointment with Dr. Riley on Tuesday and heard the heartbeat! Still beating nice and strong at around 150 BPM.
Miss anything: Buckling up my sandals. Yes, I’m already having a problem reaching the backs of my ankle’s to buckle up a pair of my sandals. I have to take deep breath in and then exhale all the air out and hurry and buckle.
Movement: Stronger and stronger every day. We still haven’t been able to feel them from the outside but I think it’s just because we don’t catch them in time and then don’t have the patience to sit there for another 5 minutes waiting for something to happen.
Food cravings: Nothing really this week. Been trying to cut back on dessert and instead eating fruit.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In’ish
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Look forward to: We’re going to Cabo in a few weeks for our last vacation as a family of two!

Also, I got my first shower invitation in the mail for the one my Mom and Mickey are throwing in Nebraska! It’s so cute; I love, love, love it and can't help but share it!

It's a mustache theme!

24 Weeks

24 weeks, 3 days
How far along? 24 Weeks
Total weight gain: 16 pounds
Maternity clothes? I have a couple of maternity tops that I’ve worn a few days here and there. Still wearing most of my jeans without the belly band but I think those days are numbered. A couple of my girlfriends have passed down some of their maternity clothes, too (thanks Anne & Ashlee!) so I’ve scored some “new” clothes without having to shop!
Stretch marks? It pains me to write this, but I think I see one coming. It looks like a white line on my belly. Now, I have white stretch marks on my hips and butt from my teenage years and you can barely see them so I’m hoping any I get on my stomach will have the same effect. It makes me so sad that they are showing themselves this early and I had a bit of a breakdown one night…why me?!?  Haha, I’m over it now but still…I’m just being honest and know I’m not the only one thinking this.
Sleep: Oh yes! I love sleep, It’s going to be interesting once this little guy arrives.
Best moment of the week: I did some major work on my registries this week with help from my dear friend, Anne. She took me to Babies R Us and walked me through the entire store. Although I’m not really sure where we’re going to put all this stuff!
Miss anything: Can you guess?!?  Specifically, Marc used to make me this delish cocktail of vodka, cranberry juice, basil and strawberries and I can’t wait to have another one...only 16 more weeks!
Movement: Oh yes, still not feeling them from the outside but he’s definitely awake quite a few times a day.
Food cravings: I really wish fruit was in season right now because I could eat grapes till my face turned purple…the problem is finding ones that are fresh!
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? I still have an innie…for the time being!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Look forward to: My next appointment on Tuesday with Dr. Riley where I can hear the heartbeat and find out that everything is going great!

Everyone keeps asking us if we have a name picked out – we do not! I’m not 100% sure that we’ll share it with the world once we do decide…but frankly I’m not sure we’ll even have one picked out before he comes…boy names are so hard! I hope we both hear one and just say, “YES, that’s it!” because as of now all we've agreed upon on are names we don't like.

23 Weeks

23 weeks, 3 days
How far along? 23 Weeks
Total weight gain: 14 pounds
Maternity clothes? I bought a couple of tops that were on sale from Gap Maternity last week but have yet to wear them…one of them I still need to fill out a bit so it doesn’t look like I’m just wearing a frumpy sweater. I have also noticed that some of my workout tops are getting a bit short, I think it’s time I buy a few new ones.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: So far so good!
Best moment of the week: Finding the website for crib bedding…see below.
Miss anything: Snowboarding! This is the first in six years I won’t be taking a snowboarding trip. My girlfriend, Anne, who was my snowboarding partner before she started getting pregnant 3 years ago went last weekend, I was super bummed not to join her. We’re so not on the same baby making schedule because now I’m probably going to be out of commission for the next couple of years.
Movement: Yep, getting a tiny bit stronger each week!
Food cravings: still sweets…but after comparing my belly photos from week to week I really need to take it easy on them because not only is my belly growing (which is not the problem), but my backside seems to be growing at the same pace. SO NOT COOL.
Anything making you queasy or sick: not much
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? It’s still hanging in there.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Look forward to: Marc is still waiting to feel those outside movements, I have a feeling it could be any day now.

Back to the crib bedding I mentioned earlier, I found this really sweet website, www.babybedding.com, where you design your own bedding.  I was having a heck of time finding anything I liked but this website is awesome because it lets you choose from a ton of different patterns and colors. It has really helped me envision what the nursery will look like because you can change the floor color and wall color to match what your nursery will look like so you can see how the bedding will look against it. SCORE!

And, I found this on the camera when downloading the pics, I think Marc was starting to get curious what it was like on the other side of the camera.

22 Weeks

22 weeks, 4 days
How far along? 22 Weeks
Total weight gain: 13 pounds
Maternity clothes? Not yet, just the bella band. But hitting up the H&M, Gap and other maternity stores are definitely on the horizon.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still sleeping good...one night I had some back pain that kept me up for quite a few hours, but I’m crossing my fingers that it was a one-time thing (at least this early in the pregnancy anyway). Oh, and I had a couple of bizarre pregnancy dreams this week. Nothing too crazy, but I was in labor, giving birth, etc…just weird because I’ve never had those types of dreams before.
Best moment of the week: Going to look at nursery furniture!
Miss anything: It’s the first week of March Madness and St Patty’s Day (double whammy)…green beer while watching the basketball games.
Movement: Yes! Especially after I eat.
Food cravings: sweets, especially this Almond Toffee candy I bought at Costco this week on a splurge. I never buy stuff like this and Marc was not impressed considering he’s now eating a few of them each night ;) (For it being a Costco size container, they’re not lasting as long as I’d hoped, I better slow down.)
Anything making you queasy or sick: not much
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: No

We started looking at furniture for the nursery and I think we’ve found everything at Pottery Barn Kids. I did some research online beforehand and then ventured out to the mall on Sunday. Marc was such a trooper, as we spent 2 hours looking at cribs, dressers, nightstands and rockers. Below are the pieces we have in mind right now, nothing fancy and we may change our minds. What’s great about the crib is that it converts to a toddler bed and then to a full size bed in the future.  I would also want to buy new hardware to replace the knobs on the nightstand and dresser; I don’t like what’s on there right now and that would give it some much needed color. And the rocker is one of the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in. I figured since I’ll be up multiple times throughout the night and probably fall asleep in it, it’s worth it to splurge! I’m not sure about a color scheme yet; I was thinking a light grey for the wall color, but that’s as far as I’ve got. We’re not going to do a full on theme in the room, that’s just way too cheesy for my liking and seriously seems like a waste of money.
